Intro Blog

 

Hi my name is Leandro Cruz, I am a senior in high school right now and I took AICE Media Studies because I wanted to explore what media studies is about and what type of careers I could get out of it. I was born and grew up in Florida and I like to play soccer and play guitar. I go to Fort Lauderdale High school and have been through many things going through all my Cambridge classes and passing them. I want to become a better student and to feel how it is to be a editor and producer of my own film. When I first got into this class I was a little worried because there were many kids in the class. And I didn't know anybody in that class so I was weirded out at first. But then I opened up a bit and found someone to help me with the projects. When it comes to sports, I’ve always had a passion for soccer and have been playing it since 5th grade. I’ve been a player for the Hollywood Wildcats team for many years and enjoy the teamwork and professional coaching I’ve received there over the years. I like to actively participate in my community so since 2019 I have been volunteering at beach cleanups for the Hollywood Waterways cleanup, assisting in church fundraisers for St. Mary church in Hollywood, helping animals in need at Saving Sage Animal Rescue in Fort Lauderdale, and assisting at Feeding South Florida as well as the Boys & Girls Club to get my service hours. Since the beginning of high school, I have also volunteered at Junior Achievement of Greater Miami, where I redesigned and updated promotional and marketing materials and helped solve IT related problems. During 2020 during the height of the pandemic I wanted to make a difference and help people in need, so I signed up to volunteer at Feeding South Florida, where I packed and inspected food and prepared it for distribution. In May 2021 I got certified as a Red Cross Lifeguard and got hired at the Greater Hollywood YMCA as a lifeguard. They soon entrusted me with additional responsibilities such as camp counselor and swim instructor. During my employment with the YMCA I acquired many important life skills such as CPR, First Aid, and rescue skills to save people’s lives - I learned how to work better in a team and become a better leader. While working as a swim instructor and camp counselor I developed important leadership skills and served as a role model for the camp kids.

 When I finish recording I started editing little by little. I synced the music to the actions in the advertisement. I made clipped the scenes to make it look better. I made the audio better. I zoomed in on the actor more. I asked people to help me on the recording. I cut the failed clips out but kept the really good \ones. I used a lot of fade outs to make the scenes go by faster. I did the job well. I helpd o more sounds by adding in some special effects. I made sure to get the determination when I jumped from 2 stairs to the bottom. I worked on the lighting because of the glare. Some shadows had to be taken out. I used the music to hype up the advertisement. I added logos. I emphasized on the logos. I added more sound effects. I used the backpack zipping as a sound effect. I showed how durable it was. I showed off the different colors.

Production Blog

 I started by filming the first set on the stair well of our school by walking up the stairs zooming in on the backpacks showing off their colors and uses of it. I tried a bunch of takes on it doing the best we an with the angles but we weren't able to get a perfect one. I first went to the stairwell and recorded me going down the stairs and grabbing the backpack, I threw the backpack down the stairs and we recorded me walking with the backpack. I went to the field. I recorded myself throwing the backpack up in the air. I slid down the stairs. I threw a backpack down the stairs. I went to the bathroom. I went down a hall way. I turned left. I went to building 21. I went up the stairs. I walked down the stairs with a backpack. I went to talk to somebody down the hall to help me. I got hot. I finished my recording and helped other people. I helped them by grabbing the soccer ball. I helped them record. I let somebody borrow my backpack. I went back to class.
